Tranmere youngster Ashton Taylor has today signed a new one-year extension to his current contract.

The 19 year old defender recently made his debut in the final game of the 2008-9 season away at Scunthorpe. He then made his first start for Rovers on Saturday away at Yeovil in the opening match of the season.

John Barnes told www.tranmererovers.co.uk:

‘Ash is a promising young defender.

‘He played well throughout pre-season and deserved to make his full debut on Saturday at Yeovil.

Ash Taylor also told www.tranmererovers.co.uk that he was ‘happy’ to have signed a new contract and stated he really enjoyed being part of the first team.
