Tranmere left back Zoumana Bakayogo was disappointed to see former boss John Barnes sacked by Rovers.

Barnes was sacked by Tranmere 12 days ago and Bakayogo proved to be Barnes’ last signing during his time at Prenton Park.

Zoumana who hails from France first started his career at French giants PSG and was released by Millwall at the end of last season.

Rovers took a gamble on the 6ft defender and seems to be a gamble worthwhile as Bakayogo has impressed for Tranmere during his first two games so far.

‘I was disappointed to see John Barnes get sacked as he was the one who brought me to Tranmere,’ Bakayogo told skysports.com.

‘I owe John a lot as he took a chance on me by signing me and I wanted to repay his faith in me, but I was unable to do that because of problems with receiving my international clearance.’

Tranmere next take on Hartlepool United in League One on Saturday a game Rovers could do with 3 points.
