Barnes delighted with first away win of the season.

Manager John Barnes was delighted to see his side pick up three points at Adams Park. The three points lifted Rovers above Wycombe in League One to 22nd.

During his post match comments Barnes stated he was mainly pleased to have kept a clean sheet. Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside the gaffer was delighted with the Rovers back four’s performance.

Barnes told BBC:

‘The victory was very pleasing but the clean sheet is as pleasing. You gives yourselves a chance of winning if you don’t concede, defensively we worked a lot better as a defensive unit and got blocks in.’

Meanwhile Barnes was also full of praise for the first half performance of Tranmere’s midfield which contained John Welsh, Paul McLaren, Chris Shuker and new boy Seb Carole who had a very good game out wide for Rovers.
