Midfielder Jay Harris has moved to Tranmere Rovers on a 12 month deal and becomes new manager Gary Brabin’s latest summer signing.

The 28 year old has been a regular in Wrexham’s midfield for the last five years, making 197 appearances for them, scoring 18 times.

He also played his part in helping them to FA Trophy success against Grimsby at Wembley back in 2012-13.

He has Football League experience from spells at Accrington Stanley and Chester City and his new deal will come into effect on July 1.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer said of his capture.

‘I`m really pleased to be able to bring Jay to the club. He is a player I have tried to sign in the past, so I know a lot about him. He is a local lad who has arguably been one of the best midfielders in the Conference in recent years. He has shown great hunger and desire to come to Tranmere, kick on in his career and be a part of what we`re doing at the Club so I`m delighted he`s decided to join us.’

Harris himself said of the deal that he was delighted to finally get the opportunity to work under Brabin, as he was aware of his previous interest in him.

‘I’m made up to work with Gary Brabin and, with how big this club is, it’s an honour really to sign and get it all sorted. I’ve always wanted to play under Gary, he has tried to sign me for a few clubs and now I’ve got the chance to work with him. And there’s nothing better than it being at Tranmere Rovers and helping to get them back into the Football League under Gary, which hopefully we can do. I’m a Liverpool lad and there’s three Merseyside clubs, Tranmere has always been a big club. I used to come over when I was younger on a Friday night for a little watch with my dad and the atmosphere was unreal, so hopefully we can get that this year.’
