Manager Gary Brabin has said he wants a Tranmere XI full of winners and leaders in 2015-16 as we look to bounce back to Football League’s League Two at the first time of asking following our relegation this season.

Speaking to the Official Site our recently installed gaffer explained that key to gaining promotion next year wouldn’t just be individual quality, it would be the mentality of the group to be able to dig in and really eek out an extra 10% from their colleagues when we needed it in games.

And those have been, he hopes, the key attributes of those he has brought into the club so far this season as he continues his rebuild of the squad.

‘I want a winning mentality so I want winners and leaders out there. I’m confident I’ve got that in the five new signings and the re-signing of the captain. I think in Liam Hogan and Ritchie Sutton, we’ve got two players who thrive on defending and I think that’s important. I’m not one of these people who changes the team every five minutes but I do like to slightly tweak the way we play and the system. I think it’s important that everyone understands every position on the pitch, but I’m not going to play people right back one week and left wing the next, but it’s good to have players who are flexible to give you different options.’
