Former Nottingham Forest and Northampton manager Colin Calderwood has rejected the chance to become the new Tranmere boss newspapers are reporting.

It appears that Peter Johnson did offer Colderwood the job who boasts two promotions on his CV with both Northampton and Nottingham Forest.

Calderwood is currently at Championship giants Newcastle United and looks to extend his stay at St James`s Park for an extra 18 months.

Although it may be bad news that Colin has turned down the opportunity it shows that Peter Johnson is looking for the right type of manager to help get Rovers out of this mess which is to bring an experienced manager in who knows League One well.
