Tranmere will tonight learn who they will face in the 2nd Round of the Carling Cup after comfortably beating Grimsby Town in the 1st Round 4-0.

All of the first round winners will be joined by Championship newcomers Newcastle United and Middlesbrough who both had first round byes, and the 13 Premier League clubs not playing in Europe.

The top 25 highest-ranked clubs have been seeded meaning they can not face each other.

Clubs playing in European competitions will enter the competition in round three.

Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, Bristol City, Burnley, Cardiff, Hull, Ipswich, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Preston, QPR, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, Tottenham, Watford, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham, Wigan, Wolves.

Unseeded teams:

Accrington, Barnsley, Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Carlisle, Crystal Palace, Doncaster, Gillingham, Hereford, Huddersfield, Leeds, Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich, Peterborough, Port Vale, Rotherham, Scunthorpe, Southampton, Southend, Swindon, Tranmere, Coventry/Hartlepool, Macclesfield/Leicester, Nottingham Forest/Bradford.
