Preston North End left back Ben Davies has joined Tranmere Rovers on a youth loan.

Following injuries to Matt Hill, Liam Ridehalgh and Danny Woodards, the 19 year old has been drafted in for cover.

He has come through their youth system and gone on to make six appearances for them this season, having made 47 appearances for York City last season during a loan spell.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Rob Edwards expressed his delight at being able to take the youngster on loan for a period.

‘He’s only young but he’s played a lot of football at this level and in the division above and is an accomplished defender. We wouldn’t have been looking to enter the loan market at this point but any team that loses three left backs would need to bring in some extra cover.’

Edwards goes on to thank Simon Grayson and Preston for being open to the move and helping us out, and Davies is available to make his debut against Edwards’ former club Exeter City this weekend.
