Richard Ault, player-manager of FC Rearguard and organiser of the match, said:

“Obviously we`re all looking forward to playing against some of the club`s biggest legends, it’s a real honour for us and I`m sure it will also be a thrill for all Tranmere supporters to see their heroes in action once more and perhaps have a chat with them over a drink afterwards.

“It will be a very enjoyable day for everyone, and the fact that we can also raise money for two fantastic causes like St John`s Hospice and Claire House makes it even better.

“I`d like to thank Eric (Nixon) for agreeing to put together a legends team for the event, plus a huge thanks to everyone at Cammell Laird for agreeing to host the match and being so helpful in the build-up to it.”

To add to the special event, Rovers hero Chris Greenacre who is set to move to New Zealand this summer, will be in attendance at the game to give Tranmere fans there last chance to get autographs from him before he departs the Wirral to go Down Under.

Why not get yourself down to the game, to see a one in a life time opportunity to see the likes of Kenny Irons dig out his boots for an 11 a side match again.

Also if anybody could help spread the word of this special event, please do so as FC Rearguard’s main aim will be to raise as much money for both charity’s as possible.
