Birkenhead born Jones was impressive at reserve level, and had bags of potential however Moore decided to release Jones in the summer, disappointing Rovers fans.

Jones admitted in an interview after signing a contract he was ‘hurt` from being released at Tranmere, and is really enjoying life at Bury he told Bury`s official website:

‘Its good for me having come here on trial in the first place. I came in and just wanted to get my head down and see where it took me. Luckily I was offered a year. That was really pleasing for me and I just had to kick on and now six months later, I have a new deal. I’m really happy with the way things are going at the moment.’

‘This has taken all the pain and the hurt from being released by Tranmere away and coming to Bury is kind of the best thing that has ever happened to me to be honest. I came in and straight away the gaffer gave me a lot of confidence, he’s given me a lot of freedom to play and hopefully that has started to show in my performances.’

Vital Tranmere would like to congratulate and wish Mike Jones all the best for the future.
