24 year old Tom Hateley has signed a four month contract with Tranmere Rovers.

The player is capable of playing at either right back or in central midfield and he’s spent the last four years with Scottish Premier League side Motherwell, having graduated initially through Reading Youth Academy.

He made 173 appearances for Motherwell, and scored 11 goals in all competitions for them.

He had been training with Tranmere since last Tuesday and he made his debut in today’s loss to Notts County, picking up his first yellow card of his Tranmere career to boot.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, Ronnie Moore said of his capture.

‘I’m really pleased to be able to add Tom to our squad. He’s looked sharp and is raring to go. There were other League 1 clubs interested in signing him but he chose to sign for Tranmere.’

Four month contract obviously equals trial period, but hopefully he’ll work out for us.

Moore added that he’s a strong player, and that he’s good on the ball and does carry a wonderful delivery with him, so once he adjusts to life at Tranmere more, hopefully we’ll see that come to fore in the coming weeks of the season.
