Former Bradford City, Wigan Athletic and Derby County boss Paul Jewell is being heavily linked to succeed John Barnes as new Tranmere manager.

Tranmere message boards are flooded with rumours of linking the former Derby boss with the job at Prenton Park.

Jewell has had experience in this league before when it was known as the old ‘Division Two’ he spent two years in Division Two (now League One) with Wigan Athletic and guided them to the Division Two title in his second year in charge. However at every job Jewell has been at he has always had decent financial backing and spent a lot of money to guide Wigan to promotion in Division Two, money would certainly not be on offer if Jewell was to take the reigns with Rovers.

His most recent job was with Championship side Derby County where he lead the club to a League Cup semi-final, however he resigned from Pride Park due to poor performance in the League, he left the club in 18th position in the Championship.

Do you think Jewell is the right man to replace John Barnes and get Rovers out of this mess?
