Manager John Barnes was pleased his side pick up there first point in seven games, as Rovers drew 1-1 with promotion chasers Colchester United.

Tranmere took the lead in the first half and were by far the better footballing side; John Welsh netted his second goal of the season at Prenton Park however just two minutes later though, Colchester punished Rovers for poor defending, On loan Watford midfielder John-Joe O’Toole netted his first for the U’s to equalise.

Kithson Bain thought he had snatched all three points late on, but his goal was ruled offside, however Barnes was pleased with the draw and was pleased with his side`s football in the first half.

Speaking to Tranmere player, the gaffer said:

‘I was pleased with the point after the last eight games we’ve had. Three points would have been nice after the run we’ve had, but I’ll take on, If we put on performances like that we will be ok.’

Barnes also admitted that his troops ‘haven’t turned the corner’ but the result and performance should boost confidence into the players.

Tranmere travel to Wycombe tomorrow night a match Rovers need to get at least another point out of to end this terrible start to the season.
