Midfielder Jake Kirby has now signed a two year extension to his contract keeping him at Tranmere Rovers until the summer of 2017.

The 20 year old was already under contract for our League 2 campaign following relegation last season, but the club have moved quickly to secure the former Academy graduates immediate future.

He made his debut back on the final day of the season in 2012 against Scunthorpe and last season he made 35 appearances for us, scoring two goals in the victories over Coventry City.

Speaking to the Official Site Football Operations Director Mick Horton said.

‘We are determined to bring through young players at Tranmere Rovers and we feel Jake has great potential. The fact he is willing to commit his next three years to Tranmere is an indication that he feels this is the best place for him to develop his talent.’

Horton finishes by saying that it also means that Kirby is definitely on board with the direction the club want to take now and how he wants to play a part in what we all hope will be ‘exciting’ and successful times ahead.
