Everton have recalled loan pair Matthew Kennedy and Matthew Pennington, whilst Owain fon Williams has been called up to the Welsh squad again today.

Speaking to the press this morning, assistant manager John McMahon confirmed that Everton had recalled the two Matt’s.

‘Kennedy and Pennington have been recalled to strengthen their development squad. It’s a blow because they’re two very good lads and two very good players.’

McMahon says simply that we now have to plug those gaps and whether we do it from inhouse or look at additional loans will be a decision the staff make, but he wanted to thank both players for their efforts during their time with us.

Kennedy made eight appearances since joining on loan, and Pennington went one better making nine.

In other Tranmere news today, goalkeeper Owain fon Williams has again been selected by Wales for their upcoming friendly against Iceland next month.

The 26 year old has been called into the 23 man squad for the game at Cardiff City Stadium and he’ll no doubt be hoping to finally make his debut after two years sat on the bench.
