Tranmere Rovers have today re-signed Paul McLaren on a free transfer from Bradford City on a two-year deal.

McLaren departed Prenton Park for Valley Parade in the Summer of 2008 and signed for the Yorkshire side on a two year contract, however after failing to make an impact in League Two he decided to terminated his contract and move back to League One.

Manager John Barnes admitted he was delighted to have secured another former crowd favourite after recently luring Alan Mahon back to Prenton Park.

Barnes told the Tranmere Rovers official website: ‘I’m thrilled Paul has agreed to come back to the Club.

‘He is a very creative midfielder who is excellent in possession and is a great passer.

‘He is also a threat from set pieces and a great professional.

‘He is a very experienced, quality player and I’m glad he is a part of the Club’s future.’

Paul McLaren added: ‘It’s great to be back – in hindsight it was a mistake to leave.

‘I’m looking forward to working with John Barnes and Jason McAteer and can’t wait to get playing again.’
