Following on from the game against Swindon Town assistant manager John McMahon has again talked about his disappointment at seeing us drop more valuable points.

Tranmere went down two one in the midweek fixture, but we did hit the bar twice early on in the second half and for the gaffer as he spoke to the Official Site it was another of those days where we didn’t get the rub of the green.

‘It’s really frustrating, you have large, large parts of the game and then you end up coming away with no points. It’s really frustrating and really disappointing.’

McMahon goes on to say again that he can’t fault the effort or the commitment of the players because he knows had the two woodwork efforts gone differently the very least we’d be talking about was a point if not all three.

‘You can’t knock them for effort, work rate, passion and desire, I just feel really sorry for them in the changing room. We started the second half on the front foot and it’s fantastic ability from Ryan to bring it down and then the vision and awareness – and it’s just inches.’

McMahon says he knows it’s not going for us at the moment but there is only one thing anybody can do about that and that is to keep plugging away as they have been doing of late and then you have to trust that hard work and effort will turn into the breaks that we need to turn results into our favour.

What doesn’t help is every knock hits confidence and the gaffer knows our confidence at the moment is very fragile, so his job is to dust the players down in training ahead of the next game and build them up as much as he can, and if anything pass over his own ethos that hard work and commitment will ultimately bring the rewards that we all want.
