Assistant manager John McMahon has keenly noted the improvement that Stevenage have shown in recent games, and he knows we are in for a battle this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game McMahon called on the team to get near the performance levels we showed last season when we travelled to their ground, as a very good performance saw us almost come away with all three points, stopped only by a late equaliser.

‘They’ve got a never say die attitude, they’re competitive and hardworking. Direct, so we need to be switched on when we get in those positions. But they can also play a bit.’

McMahon says we have analysed various parts of their game and do have a game plan in place to nullify those aspects but it’s also important that we remember our strengths and what we are capable of doing as we can’t play the game only thinking of them, we have to force our style and pace into the game and run it as best as we can.

‘I’ve got confidence in the players’ ability, it’s just trying to keep them organised and believing in what they’re doing.’

Given both teams relative form and results of late, the assistant gaffer does believe however that if we perform as we did last time we will come back with all three points and that will be exactly what we try to achieve so we can build on our three match unbeaten run, and add another victory to that.
