Moore is proud of his men

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore admitted he was heartbroken to see Scunthorpe nick 6th place so late on after his side defended so well, but took time out to say he is proud of what a great season it has been for the club.

Moore told the club’s official website after the game:

‘I’m proud of them, especially to come here and boss the first half the way we did. Their keeper kept them in it with a tremendous save just before half time.

‘We defended too deeply in the second half but we won everything. Eddsy gets sent off, and how the ref sees that as a yellow card I’ll never know. I’d debate whether it was a foul.

‘The one time we weren’t organised we were punished. It’s cruel…I don’t think we deserved that.

‘I feel sorry for Gareth, because he’s gutted and crying. That’s the horrible side of football.

‘I’m proud of them, they gave their all.

‘The fans were magnificent. They gave us great support and I’m gutted for them.’
