After yesterdays shocking performance against Charlton manager John Barnes did not take time out in his post match comments to even apoligise for the awful display.
Rovers were thrashed 4-0 at Prenton Park and have now lost 3 home games on the run. Barnes blamed the lack of ‘desire’ from his players and said his men had no belief either.
Speaking to Tranmere Player, Barnes said:
‘It was slightly better than Leeds possibly. Do we believe we can play against the top teams? I don’t think we do. Maybe the players don’t believe they are good enough but I believe they are good enough.
‘A lot has been made of the way we want to play which I think is ridiculous – everyone has their idea of how they want to play. In terms of how we want to play, that’s got nothing to do with us conceding goals. It’s to do with people not making tackles, people not tracking back. That has nothing to do with a short passing game or a long passing game, it’s to do with desire. What are we doing when we haven’t got the ball?
‘We’re going to have to get the confidence back individually and collectively in training. We’ve got to work harder in and out of possession. Forget about tactics, it’s about an individual saying ‘I’m going to make a tackle’, ‘I’m going to track back.’
Considering we had one of the best home records in the league last season we have now lost 3 home games on the bounce something ‘Barnsy has to sort out soon if he wants ‘bums on the seats.
Meanwhile Barnes also said he thinks striker Kithson Bain will arrive next week.
