Chairman Mark Palios has said the fans are more than entitled to boo after we suffered our third successive defeat to Wycombe last night.

The defeat and our current run leaves us just one place above the dropzone but we are joint on points with Cheltenham who occupy 23rd place.

Speaking to the BBC following the defeat, Palios explained.

‘They’re entitled to boo, of course they are. They pay the money, they pay the wages and they demand a performance from the players, the board an the management team as well. The thing was they weren’t actually, during the course of the match, putting extra pressure on the players and I appreciate that.’

Tranmere have brought in a number of new faces so far this season and that number grew when the loan of Dan Gardner was confirmed, but there has been some turnover in playing staff and loans in and out, and of course not being able to put out a regular settled side does affect things unfortunately.

‘You’ve got to look at the circumstances, I think the general acceptance was that the squad that we had at the start of the season wasn’t actually capable of competing and we therefore had to make the changes. Clearly there is a balance between not bringing too many players in and not getting a settled side, and I think there has been an element of that.’
