Midfielder Lee Power has said the whole team are disappointed after being knocked out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy by Fleetwood last night.

Rovers went down 2-1 despite having taken the early lead in the first round tie and Power told the Official Site that Tranmere basically gifted them the goals and that as a team, we have to be far cleverer in defending leads.

‘In the first half I think we were comfortable but while you’ve only got that one goal cushion you’ve got to keep performing and we gifted them both goals. Two mistakes have cost us and at 1-0 we should be good enough to see it out and we weren’t.’

Power added that the most disappointing thing for him was that in the second half we started performing how we had done earlier in the season and that had been something that the team have been training hard to avoid because of how it’s cost us previously in games.

We’ve got Stevenage up next at Prenton Park this weekend and Power described it as a massive ‘must win’ game for Tranmere now as we have to bounce back from this disappointment and really get our season on track.
