As Tranmere welcome Stockport County to Prenton Park ‘Old Tom’ speaks to Vital Tranmere in preparation for Tuesday’s game.

What is your name?
Old Tom.

How long have you supported Stockport?
35 years.

Best moment?
Getting the point against Carlisle on the last day of the season a couple of years back to secure our league status. A bit negative for some but, boy oh boy, did we County fans lose sleep in the week coming up to that game

Do you think Jim Gannon is the right man for the job?
Most definitely. A club like County should thank its lucky stars we have such a talented guy as manager. Jimbo will leave County one day for better things and we will have to be very lucky indeed to get someone even 75% as good.

Who would you personally pay to leave the club?
Some of the stewards! We have had ‘issues` with, lets say, not the most sensible of stewarding. Away fans get it worst and there are complaints into the club from quite a few clubs` fans now. It is bringing the name of the club down and taking the edge of what should be one of the best away days for fans who like a drink and a decent atmosphere.

Score prediction for Tuesday?
We have wobbled a bit. We are lacking a cutting edge right now but have been very good away from home. Our defence has looked a little uncertain in the last couple of games so I think this will be tightened up and the back and am going for a nil-nil draw.

Where do you think Tranmere will be at the end of the season?
Around the 9th or 10th mark

Where do you think Stockport will be at the end of the season?
Around the 9th or 10th mark also!

Anything you like to say to the Rovers fans before you go?
I guess there are similarities with both our clubs.
We both live in the shadow of fooballing giants, we both used to play on Friday nights and we are both Cheshire teams.
Despite all that I have no feelings of camaraderie with Tranmere but at the same time no feelings of rivalry.
I am afraid to say I cannot muster up much to say good or bad.

Vital Tranmere would like to thank ‘Old Tom’ for taking time out to participate in the interview and wish Stockport County the best for the rest of the season, after tomorrow of course!
