Manager Ronnie Moore has given an injury update ahead of our hosting Port Vale this week at Prenton Park.

As already alluded to following the loss to Stoke in the Capital One Cup third round match, Moore confirmed to the Official Site that he was still working hard on trying to bring in a replacement left back on loan for the injury Evan Horwood to save him having to use Danny Holmes out of position.

More so, it takes on an additional importance now as although Horwood came off with a groin strain and will miss at least two weeks worth of football, his replacement on the day, Holmes, also missed training today as he had to go home after falling ill.

‘We’ve been on the phone this morning about a loan and have spoken to people and left messages. We’ve just got to wait and see.’

Moore adds that he’s also hopeful of trying to extend Adam Dugdale’s loan from Crewe as that expires following the Port Vale game.

Andy Robinson is likely to be on the sidelines for another six weeks, and Jason Koumas is also another fortnight away.

Hopefully Moore will have options having rested the likes of Ian Goodison and we’ll be able, whatever the team that starts, to build on the positives the manager took from the loss to Stoke and get our season properly off the mark.
