Rovers’ Zola: A Wanted Man

It appears that Tranmere Rovers striker Calvin Zola’s signature is the target of a few clubs.

Calvin Zola, Tranmere Rovers` Congolese tall target-man is the subject of a hot pursuit involving many clubs.

Rumours surface in January that there were some Championship clubs chasing Zola but the names only came to light a little later on. It immerged that Blackpool were one of the clubs chasing the lanky front-man, but there was no follow up in the media regarding a bid or even contact between the player or the clubs.

Then, as soon as the season ended, it became apparent that Crewe were trying to buy him from the Rovers. The fee for the striker is supposed to be about two hundred thousand pounds, which would definitely suit Tranmere following the announcement of losses of around £1 million being made in the previous season.

To join Crewe in the chase for him, Swindon are now also rumoured to have made a bid for the striker who has played nearly 100 games for Tranmere and scored just 16 goals.

The news of Swindon`s joining of the pursuit is also good news for Tranmere and it could mean that the demand for Calvin Zola will enable The staff at Tranmere to try to push the price up.
