Tranmere target Mark Hughes has today signed for League One rivals Walsall on a free transfer.

Hughes was strongly linked with Rovers after turning down a contract at Northampton, and was tipped to be a replacement for Ben Chorley who has now left Prenton Park to join Leyton Orient.
