Savage Signs

Like London buses, you wait forever for one, then two turn up. Tranmere, according to many sources (Teamtalk, sportinglife to name two), have signed Millwall man Bas Savage.

Savage origninally told the South London Press, ‘If Kenny is happy for me to talk to Tranmere, it is a sign I am not going to be first choice next season. I have the option of another six months with Millwall but I don’t want to end up with no club in January, and be out of the game for a couple of months, which is what happened last year. We’ll see what happens. If it does come to it, I will be very sorry to leave Millwall because Kenny helped me a lot and I really enjoyed my time there.’

However, it is now believed that these talks are all but complete and the unveiling of Savage will occur tomorrow if all goes smoothly.

As with many lower league target men, Savage’s probable transfer will cause much debate amongst Rovers fans. Not a scorer of many goals and a frustrating player to many fans. One Millwall fan commented on the deal stating, ‘I’d happily carry him up their myself’. Now this should be taken tongue in cheek as i don’t know many people who would offer to carry a 6’3′ 14st man anywhere never mind half the length of the country.

On a serious note though, he does appear to be a player who may well divide fans opinions.
