Coach Chris Shuker has today re-registered as a player ahead of the Christmas period of fixtures.

Having hung up his boots to focus on coaching at the end of last season, after coming back to Prenton Park in a coaching capacity he has picked up his fitness and resumed full training and he is now an additional option for Manager Micky Adams.

Speaking to the Official Site briefly as the news was announced, the gaffer explained.

‘We’ve registered Chris as a player. At the end of last season I clapped him off the pitch at Peterborough for his last appearances at Port Vale, thinking that was the end of him. But he’s rested his knee over the summer and is back in training. He looks great.’

Adams goes on to say that he still has the ability to play ‘wherever’ and whilst he’s most fondly remember as a wideboy at Prenton Park, he knows he’s very comfortable in the middle of midfield as well.

‘Whether I use him or not is another matter, but we have registered him in case we need him.’
