Reports suggest that, following the departure of Ian Thomas-Moore on Wednesday, a deal for Andy Robinson is thought to be put in place by Tranmere- who are looking to keep experience at right-wing.

At six o’clock on the day of Thomas-Moore’s transfer to Rotherham, Robinson’s agent, Neil Sang, announced on Twitter that he had ‘spoken to (Rovers boss) Les Parry’ and that there ‘could be a deal to announce tomorrow’.

The former Leeds winger was released from the West Yorkshire club in early December and was rumoured to be training with the Whites soon after Christmas to help with fitness levels.

An offer was rumoured to be on the table in early January for Robinson, but the Whites couldn’t match wage his demands and offers from other clubs until Thomas-Moore’s move to Rotherham went through and money was freed up.

Should the reports be true, there could be more departures at Prenton Park due to strikers returning from injury. Alan Mahon’s lengthy spell out of action has virtually ended, with the Irish attacking-midfielder making the bench for Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Swindon. Birkenhead-born Robinson will also be competing with Sam Morrow, Lucas Akins, Lateef Elford-Alliyu and Adam McGurk for a place in a front three with Dale Jennings and Enoch Showunmi.
