A brace from Joe Thompson helped save Tranmere’s blushes today against Crawley Town and he was delighted to score his first two home goals.

Speaking to the Official Site after drawing praise recently from the gaffer Thompson more than justified it today.

‘With the start we had and then getting back into the game and going 2-1 up it’s disappointing to only get a draw. We were looking to kick on in the second half but it wasn’t to be. Lowey did really well for the first goal, for the second the keeper made a bit of a rick and I’ve had to punish him. Lowey showed the other side of his game as well, he only needs one chance and he put it away well.’

Thompson says he knows he can’t get carried away with this now because he needs to keep working hard on the training pitch, keep himself in the gaffer’s plans and show he can do this consistently for us now.
