Manager Rob Edwards has this evening signed Rochdale striker George Donnelly.

The 26 year old joins us for an undisclosed fee and has penned a two year deal at Prenton Park. He will join up with his new colleagues for the first time in training tomorrow morning.

The Kirkby born forward began his career at Skelmersdale United before moving onto Plymouth Argyle aged 21. He then moved to Fleetwood Town in 2001 for a club record fee at the point, and followed on to Macclesfield Town for a five figure sum.

He moved to Rochdale back in 2012 and comes to us having made almost 200 appearances across all competitions, and having scored 37 times.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Rob Edwards said of the signing.

‘George is a fast, powerful striker who will run behind defences and cause them a lot of problems. He gives us an option we haven’t currently got in the squad. He’s got a lot of experience at this level and helped Rochdale will promotion last season.’

Edwards goes on to say he feels that he’ll fit in very well with the attacking players we have at the squad and he’s confident that he’ll get us goals, so having been a player he’s been watching for a while, he’s delighted that a deal has now been done.
