Tranmere Rovers have today announced that Mark and Nicola Palios are taking a controlling interest in the club having reached an agreement with Peter Johnson.

Mark is a former chief executive of The Football Association and made over 280 appearances for the club across two spells with us. Before hanging up his boots he trained and qualified as a chartered accountant and went on to build a career in the City, ultimately leading PWC’s UK business regeneration team.

Nicola is a highly successful commercial lawyer with great experience in business, sport and consultancy.

Mark will become Executive Chairman of the club with Nicola becoming Vice Chairman, and Johnson will remain as a shareholder, director and become the club’s Honorary President.

Speaking to the Official Site as the news was announced, Johnson said.

‘I have been looking for a safe fair of hands to ensure the club’s future. In Mark and Nicola I have found that. As a local lad who played for the club, and a former Chief Executive of The FA with a successful commercial track record, Mark is uniquely placed to help lead Tranmere to a bright future. Nicola is an accomplished lawyer and businesswoman. Between them, they have the passion and the experience to take the club forward and I am looking forward to working on the Board with them.’
