Injury news and the thoughts of assistant manager John McMahon ahead of our game against Oldham Athletic this weekend.

Starting with our gaffers thoughts as he spoke to the Official Site ahead of the Oldham game, McMahon was hoping to see Tranmere continue where they left off following the three one win over Coventry City in our last game.

‘The team spirit seems good, the lads seem a little bit brighter which is a good indication of the mental state they’re in.’

With that said and the confidence boost he knows we’ll have taken from the Coventry game, he knows every match at this level is difficult and following Oldham’s defeat to MK Dons he knows they will be looking to put that right and get back to winning ways themselves so they certainly won’t be walkovers in this match.

However the match would allow us to leapfrog Oldham by a point in the table if the result goes out way, and we’d have a game in hand still, so that will be the prime motivation for the players ahead of the game.

Having been unable to replace the two Matt’s who returned to Everton, the assistant gaffer also says it’s the perfect chance for others within the team to stake their claim again now and rise to the challenge to keep the shirt themselves.

We will now however be without Abdulai Baggie who has sustained a knee injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines for between six to eight weeks. Unfortunately the winger damaged his ligaments just before half time whilst playing for our reserve side last Tuesday.

We are however set to welcome back both Ryan Lowe and Jake Cassidy as they were expected to both be passed fit ahead of the game.

Lowe picked up a hip injury in the game against Coventry, and then Cassidy also took a boot to the chest which left him with breathing difficulties, but both players have progressed well since and they should be fine and in contention for tomorrow.
