New manager Rob Edwards has today brought in another striker, this time experienced Kayode Odejayi.

The 32 year old has joined us on a one year deal that will come into force on July 1st, and he will join up with his new team mates the day after.

Having begun his career at Bristol City, he has had spells with Cheltenham Town, Barnsley and Colchester, and his development and form earned him a move to Rotherham United.

Last season he spent most of the campaign out with League Two side Accrington Stanley, scoring eight times as they turned their own season around to avoid relegation.

He has also been capped once by Nigeria.

Speaking to the Official Site following the announcement, our manager said.

‘I’m really pleased Kayode has agreed to sign for us. He’s a powerful, aggressive striker who causes defenders lot of problems. He’s good in the air, has a burst of speed and will give us some real strength in attack. And, importantly, he’ll bring our squad lots of experience which will be important to us next season.’

Having started at Bristol City and signing his first professional contract back in 1999, Odejayi has racked up 331 starting appearances in all competitions in his career so far, and that is boosted by a further 192 appearances from the bench. In that time he has scored 86 times.
