Tranmere vs Brentford

Huge HUGE game for us against Brentford.

Following our disastrous start to the season, I highlighted this game as one we could use to kick-start our revival. As it turns out, our revival was kickstarted 10 days earlier against Southend. We’ve kept clean sheets in 3 of the last 5 games so the defence is looking a lot more settled than it was under Barnes. A clean sheet should be top priority on Saturday as it means we’re guaranteed to get something from the game (obviously).

Scoring three at Huddersfield and getting a point will do the confidence of the squad no harm at all however we mustn’t be complacent as Brentford are no mugs although I’m sure Les, Chief and Shaun won’t let complacency creep in.

Picking up a point could see us off bottom spot if there’s a winner at the Wycombe v Stockport game but obviously i’d prefer a win. We aren’t cast adrift at the bottom and there are still plenty of points to play for but the more points we get on the board before the crunch stage of the season, the more likely we are to stay up.

If we’re to win this we need to have Bostock tightly marked. He could cause havoc if he’s given space and time on the ball. He’s had a good start to his Brentford career and will be looking to add to his growing reputation. Brentford started the season off well enough and were near the top 6 but a long run without a win saw them sink down the table. They’ve started to pick up some form of late but so have we so hopefully home advantage helps us get the win and really bring back a feel-good factor to the club.

COYWB!
