Tranmere came out victors in our second pre season game of the summer on Tuesday night at Rivacre Park.

Following quickly on the heels of our five nil victory, the scoreline wasn’t quite as comprehensive against Vauxhall but a comfortable four one victory is another good confidence booster and it will have been another good run out for the lads with new manager Rob Edwards learning more about his squad in the process.

Tranmere started brightly and could’ve taken the lead after only six minutes when Cole Stockton was brought down in the box and a penalty was awarded, but sadly the striker drove his effort against the right hand post.

Not long afterwards though Eliot Richards gave us the lead before Vauxhall levelled after 30 minutes. Having already effectively hit the woodwork three times by this stage many would’ve wondered if it was going to be our day, especially as we missed plenty of other opportunities, but an all changed side for the second half more than came out on top, adding three goals in the process.

Three minutes after the restart Max Power volleyed into the top corner to give us the advantage again, and then naturally, we hit the woodwork once more before another penalty for a foul on James Rowe was converted by Abdulai Baggie, who then added a second seven minutes from time.

First half:

Ramsbottom, Holmes, Holness, Shaw, Heath, Jago, Laird, Woodards, Kirby, Richards, Stockton.

Second half:

Fon Williams, George, Gumbs, Boland, Ridehalgh, Duggan, Gill, Power, Rowe, Baggie, Odejayi.
