James Wallace has paid tribute to goal scorer Ryan Lowe and talked of the teams’ improvement following the seriously disappointing display against Rotherham.

Speaking to the Official Site the skipper said it was a much improved second half performance from the team, and credited Lowe’s professional performance because he wasn’t in his true position, but sometimes football does script things, and.

‘He was asked to do a shift that he doesn’t really like doing but he’d done it for the team and he’s come up with the winning goal. You couldn’t have written it any better for Ryan. First ever goal for Tranmere at stadiumk and it’s Ryan Lowe to score, happy days!’

The midfielder goes on to effectively apologise for the Rotherham game, describing it as nothing like ‘us’ and saying that we didn’t show any determination or pride which is simply unacceptable for any Tranmere side, although whilst admitting we weren’t the best team against Dons, after a few words from the gaffer and Johnny Mc we did come out fighting in the second half, and we nicked the all important goal because we’d kept it tight at the other end.

Wallace obviously says that football is about consistency in performance and results, and we have lacked that all season really, so hopefully this is now the start of a good run of form that will have the fans happier than they have been over the last few months.

He also comments that he appreciates his own form hasn’t been great, but he knows that will come as his fitness and sharpness does as he’s not 100% but he’s working hard on getting there, because he’s not happy with his overall contribution at the moment and he wants to improve, and he knows he has to.
