As many had originally feared, the snow that largely hit the Northern areas of the country won’t be disappearing any time soon. The snow has been causing people problems throughout the week by just about covering everything in sight- Prenton Park and the Tranmere training ground included.

A pitch inspection early Tuesday confirmed that Rovers JPT tie with Huddersfield would be called off due to a deep sheet of ice appearing on the pitch- something that had crossed the minds of Les Parry and his team last weekend.

Speaking to Tranmere’s official side in an interview on Tuesday, Parry revealed how the weather had affected his sides training schedule: ‘It plays havoc with [our week]. I was keen for us to play tonight, we’ve got Joss who is suspended so that was going to be one of his games gone. Looking at the weather we’re going to be [training] inside today and looking at the forecast we’re going to be inside Thursday and Friday as well. It really messes us around so we’re going to have to try and get an outdoor full size astroturf we can use.’

It wasn’t all bad news however. The Whites have been hit with a few injuries of late, and the postponement meant the injured players had extra time to recover: ‘We had one or two players we may well have gambled on tonight. We’ll never know now, but whether they were ready or not was questionable.’

Tranmere’s next match away to Exeter is scheduled for Saturday, with pitch inspections being carried out on the day.
