Assistant manager John McMahon has today added Fleetwood Town winger Junior Brown to our ranks.

The deal is still subject to Football League and FA approval but there are no hiccups expected, and when it all goes through it will be until the end of the season.

The 24 year old joined Fleetwood from Northwich Victoria back in 2010 and has since gone on to play more than 120 games for the club, scoring 14 times.

Last season he was their leading goalscorer and has played 31 times for them already this campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site as the deal was announced, McMahon said.

‘Junior ticks all the boxes, he’s quick, mobile, technically very good and a good age. I’m pleased to be able to bring him to Tranmere and thank Graham Alexander for letting him join us.’

McMahon says that Brown has been on our radar for some time and the fact that he is pretty versatile and can play wide right, wide left and even full back, gives us immense options moving forward.

With Fleetwood having a decent – until late – promotion campaign themselves from League Two, you do wonder if this is a precursor to a permanent move in the summer by giving him a taste now with Fleetwood faltering as maybe they had some kind of agreement in terms of him remaining with the club and their promotion?

Either way, welcome on board.
