The Birkenhead born defender played five times for Rovers earlier this season during October, but was recalled by United after his month’s loan spell came to an end.

Injuries to Ian Goodison, Marlon Broomes, Tim Cathalina and loanee Jermaine Grandison over recent weeks has left the Whites looking threadbare at the back. Which was why, in an interview with Tranmere’s official site, boss Les Parry seemed pleased to be bringing 19-year old Wooton back to Prenton Park for another spell: ‘He did really well for us last time and showed what a talented young player he is.’

Wootton, who started his career at Tranmere before he was snapped up by United at the age of 13, is expected to start alongside Goodison in Tranmere’s JPT match against Huddersfield next Tuesday.’
