Brian Little has made changes to his backroom staff in a complete shake up.

Assistant manager Richard Hill has left and been replaced by first team coach John McMahon who will be assisted by Jason McAteer. McAteer will continue playing but is keen to progress fully into coaching.

Brian Little told the official site: ‘I’ve taken a fresh look at a number of areas, primarily the first team but also the way we operate behind the scenes. What worked well for us last season isn’t as effective now and we hope this simplified structure will suit us better.’

Adding:

‘John has made the transition from Youth coach to First team coach very well and Jason made his desire to move into coaching clear when he joined us. This marks the first step of this transitional path from player to coach. Initially he’ll assist John McMahon as a player/coach and John’s role will be unchanged’.

John has been in charge of the successful youth team since 1998 and was made first team coach when Little joined Tranmere in 2003.
