Tranmere, as things stand, are likely to be battling with our weekend opponents this season but we were on the wrong end of the scoreline on this occasion.

Carlisle United had Keith Curle in charge for the first time at home on Saturday and he started his reign as their new boss by leading them to a 1-0 win over Tranmere at Brunton Park.

A typically, as expected, tight game couldn’t see a breakthrough in the first half and most of the second half was also going that way.

Carlisle, from the few real chances, did have the better of them with David Amoo (72) finally heading in a breakthrough to give the home side the lead with around 20-minutes to play.

We had a good chance to equalise but George Donnelly wasn’t able to take this so we lost one-nil.
