Sort Out Defence, And Win Games

Ronnie Moore has made it perfectly clear what he expects from Tranmere ahead of the game against Notts County this weekend.

Having conceded four goals against Brentford last time we took to the pitch, the gaffer obviously wants to see much better defensive performance from the side this time round and that old phrase that has been used a few times this season was back in play ‘you can’t defend like we did, if we go and defend like that we’ll concede goals.’

Speaking to the Official Site Moore said he would be telling the players to start this game how they finished the last one, because if we do that and we do it consistency throughout the 90 minutes, he has no doubts whatsoever that come the final whistle we’ll have all three points.

‘We’ve got to go with the right attitude, start like we finished then we’ll be ok. The attitude, commitment and desire was fantastic and a point would have felt like a win.’

Sorting out defence in the main issue for Moore at the moment, but he also knows that now is the time where we need to start winning games because we’re too close to the bottom of the table for his liking, even after only seven games of the season played and he wants us to get back on a roll like we had last term where individual mistakes are covered by luck and they don’t go against you so you tend to ignore them. Of course when luck isn’t with you, everything goes against you and it can weigh players down.

‘We’ve got to get back to basics, if we’re scoring three goals at home we don’t expect to lose it.’

Clearly Moore will be sending the team out to attack and he confirms that we won’t be going the Meadow Lane to sit back and defend, we’ll going there for all three points, and hopefully that’s exactly what we’ll leave with.
