Wallace Update & Game Change

Tranmere Assistant Manager John McMahon has given an update on injured James Wallace, and the club have also confirmed that the game against Bradford has been re-arranged.

Midfielder Wallace has been out of action since December after damaging his knee ligaments, and unfortunately for the player he has suffered a number of setbacks on his road to full recovery.

Earlier today he was set to visit a specialist again to get a fresh assessment of where he now stands in terms of making a comeback, and everybody hopes it’s finally some good news for the player as even McMahon admits he’s suffered every problem he possibly could during his rehabilitation work.

Speaking to the Official Site the assistant boss did say however that he had more than enough faith in Wallace’s mental strength to ultimately overcome all of this and get his career back on track.

‘We’ve just got to keep working and being positive with James, keeping his mind focused and positive and hopefully the niggles he’s having will solve themselves.’

The current problem is a bit of swelling that has come up behind his knee, but for a player who hasn’t had a serious, if any real injury, in his career so far – even given his youthful age – the lack of progress is obviously hitting him hard, and being positive is something that’s difficult but he’s managing it.

Have to hope he’s back sooner rather than later, and hopefully the specialist will put a bit of a smile on his face.

As for the Bradford game, typically it has been moved following Police advice as an EDL demonstration will disrupt most people’s lives as they protest in Bradford’s City Centre.

A Bradford spokesman said of the decision.

‘While the demonstration may not have a direct effect on the area around the stadium, both Bradford and Tranmere fans would be using the same transport links at the same time as those involved in the demonstration. We have, therefore, agree to the request from West Yorkshire Police.’

In light of this, the match will now take place on Friday October 11 and it will kick off at 7.45pm.
