Taylor featured 49 times during two seasons at Prenton Park scoring 10 goals.
The Welsh international took some stick at Rovers and left the club in March 2008 to Doncaster Rovers which lead to Ian Moore returning to the club from Hartlepool.
Taylor then won promotion with Doncaster via the play offs and has made 18 appearances this season in the Championship.
Taylor rejected a similar deal at Scunthorpe earlier on in the transfer window.
Manager Greg Abbott told the officials club website:
‘He’s terrific in the air, experienced, and I’m sure we will see him getting on the end of stuff for us.’
