Great result – first time we have won at Oldham in 12 years!

  • mouldy_old_maki says:

Can have no complaints about the result, you were the better side overall. I can’t help thinking if Hughes had buried the one on one it could of been a different outcome. I thought your fans were in good voice also, which I wasn’t expecting given previous meetings.

  • liam_trfc_06 says:

Spot on mouldy_old_maki , at least you admit it unlike some. Yes was a poor miss from Hughesy if he’d burried that i think you would of won. I thought though despite that we were better in the 1st half. Big Joe has some work to do if he wants the play offs now..

  • mouldy_old_maki says:

TBH we’d realistically have to win every game until the end of the season to be in with a chance, and given that we haven’t won 3 in a row for god knows when i’m not too optimistic. Time for Joe to give us some foundations for the future. Top6 will stay how it is, i believe them to be the best 6 teams in the division.

Keep it quiet but i’m one of the ones who thought Ronnie got abit of a raw deal in his time with Latics 😉

  • liam_trfc_06 says:

    So you actually liked Ronnie??

  • mouldy_old_maki says:

Not as such, the football was horrible to watch but he kept us up and established a good side with signings such as Wellens, Porter and Lids. On paper both him and Shezza were very unlucky to recieve the boot.

  • liam_trfc_06 says:

Exactly, which is why i don’t see why Oldham fans go mad at him? He kept you lot up and got you to 8th i think the next season. Ok the football was not great but he still achieved. And did well with hardly any money.

  • mouldy_old_maki says:

He didn’t handle himself well, for example laying into fans (which may be justified but you don’t go there if you wanna stay at the club) and the football really was of a poor standard that it wasn’t even enjoyable winning. Shez’s first season was perfect, we had Ronnie’s signings and Shez’s theodicies of get it down and pass it but unfortunately the core of that team was gone in the summer after losing in the play-offs.

  • liam_trfc_06 says:

Ahh right i see, one more question why do most of your fans hate Ian Moore so much is it because he is his son or the fact he rejected you lot to come to us?

  • Prophet of Doom says:

Hey, Maki, Good to see you on our forum again. I agree. With your four point gap and our having played one more game it seems that sixth place is probably just out of reach for both of us. And with Scunny, Dirty Leeds and Milwall all discovering form I can’t see anyone slipping up – unless MK continue to slide, and their indifferent form can’t last forever.

Sorry about yesterday. We hardly ever win away so don’t begrudge us the three points. Mind you, Charley’s finish for the opener was excellent.

    All the best.

    PoD

  • mouldy_old_maki says:

Mainly because he rejected us on deadline day which lest us screwed up last year with a striker shortage but the fact that sir ronnie is his dad makes it worse. Was a very good finish POD

  • liam_trfc_06 says:

Ahh right i see, anyway good luck under Joe Royal now mate – can’t see you getting play offs now to be honest.
