Today, Tranmere Rovers have announced the signing of Sydney born, 27 year-old utility player Gareth Edds. Edds spent the first five years of his career at Nottingham Forest before ending up at Mk Dons via brief spells at Swindon and Bradford.

During his four year spell at MK Dons, Edds, established himself as a fans’ favourite and featured as a first team regular.

Last season Edds had ankle surgery which limited his appearances for Milton Keynes.

Edds can play in a whole host of positions but is most comfortable at either right back or in a central midfield role.

Having the experience of winning a championship will hopefully rub off on the rest of the Rovers squad and hopefully Edds can make MK Dons regret releasing him.

He looked very good at MK Dons last season. He should be a good signing if he’s now clear of injury.
