On 5th June, Pakistan met India in the SAFF Cup in the Maldeves. India, the holders, slotted two goals past the Pakistan ‘keeper before Ahmed rose above the Indian defenders to convert a corner kick in the 88th minute. This made the score 2-1 and that is how it remained.

Ahmed has had his opportunities limited in the last season at Tranmere by the formidable partnership of Paul McLaren and Stephen Jennings in the middle of the park. He will hope that next season will be his opportunity to shine as the futures of McLaren and Jennings are not certain whilst they still mull over new contract offers.

Ian ‘Pepe’ Goodison was also involved in an international match this week as he started and finished Jamaica’s international friendly against St. Vincent and Grenadines which the Reggae Boyz won 5-1.
