Glass of cider anyone?

A fair bit of inconsistency in the Rovers team means Saturday’s game now takes a bit of importance. The relegation worries are not quite over yet, so a first-ever league trip to Yeovil must be overcome.

Yeovil- in Somerset. Expect ze home supports to be drunk off ze arses from ze cider before ze go in football ground for ze game. West country people sound dull and monotone, they do say us up north have the best accents. The pubs will be brimming with cider, but what about Ambrosia? Oh, that’s thirty miles west in neighbouring Devon.

Gary Johnson left the cider drinkers in September for the Wurzels. Since then they have been average but done enough to keep their heads aboove the drop zone. With Swansea and Southend gunning for promotion and Scunthorpe comfortably mid-table, the onus is on them to make it four out of four for the promoted sides by staying up.

With Yeovil being a bit weak in defence and with Rovers having scored five in two home matches, the expectation is an away win, but this lot did turn the plastic brummies over whereas we didn’t. Will Zola trap the ball for the first time on Saturday? Will Brian Little be so cider-drunk that he goes 4-2-4 and all out for it? We’ll find out Saturday. Join us for a tractor ride and some cider.

OOH-ARR!

Brian says:

‘They had a great result at Walsall on Tuesday night and played a certain way to make it difficult for Walsall. In these games it is a massive boost to score the first goal. If you go a goal behind it really gets you against the wall.

‘We had a setback on Friday but we can’t let it knock us back so far. The most important thing is to be positive. We’ve turned a big corner since December. It might not look it, but there are only a few teams who have done better than us since then.’

Yeovil Team News:

Midfielder Anthony Barry is out with a dislocated knee. New loanee Craig Rocastle may also play.

Player to watch: Arron Davies

Scored in his last three games. A threat for the home side.

Tranmere Team News:

Achto still the only one absent, as Facey and Jennings successfully recover from knocks.

Player to watch: Chris Greenacre

Three well-taken goals in the first game plus three in the last three make him one to watch here.

Match Stats

Yeovil’s last home victory came against Hartlepool on January 7.

Rovers have done two home and away doubles so far this season. Swindon and Chesterfield were the victims. This presents a chance to make it three.
