Tranmere slumped to a 1-0 defeat to bottom of the League Cheltenham which also seen Rovers slip out of the play offs zone.

With just 3 minutes into the game at Whaddon Road a spectacular volley from David Bird from 20 yards gave the Robins the lead.

Throughout the first half Town dominated and deserved to be another goal up before the break. However Rovers finally got into the game on the 40th minute mark defender Ryan Shotton audaciously had an over head kick saved by the woodwork.

Rovers came out the better side after the break with left back Andy Taylor seeing his effort punched clear by Robins ‘keeper Scott Brown.

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore then decided to take of Charlie Barnett on 68 minutes and replaced him with Craig Curran who finally returned from injury.

Again Rovers piled on the pressure as Ben Chorley missed a header from an Andy Taylor Corner. Another sub was made this time the in form Steven Jennings was taken of and replaced by attacking midfielder Gareth Edds with ten minutes remaining.

Substitute Craig Curran saw his header deflected wide and the last chance of the match came to Tranmere ‘skipper Antony Kay who headed over from 8 yards.

FINAL SCORE = Cheltenham Town 1-0 Tranmere Rovers.

    Poor Result, we have to beat teams like Cheltenham if we want a play off place – no disrespect to Cheltenham.
